Mexy was born in 2023 from the memory of tortillas made by my grandmother using corn grown by my grandfather. If we didn’t make them on the ranch, my grandmother would give me a few pesos for a tortilla run. In Mexico, tortillerias are around every corner. Here, tortillas are often a mass-produced afterthought. The tradition seems to be lost. Even “fresh” tortillas are made using instant mixes.
